Lot 173 – Porsche Boxster 3.2 S Type 986. 2001
Estimated Value: £8,000 – £11,000
A truly outstanding example of a Porsche “Boxster S” is the only way you can describe this car! From its optional colour matched hard top, a £2,700 extra, to its black powder coated wheels, encasing drilled discs and red callipers. Both inside and out it is probably one of the best examples on the market today.
Its low mileage of 52.300 miles is backed up by a very comprehensive history file complete with 11 service stamps, the last service being done in April this year with its MOT. Along with this is also a total written history listing all work carried out over and above servicing from 2006 onwards, showing over £6000 worth of work being carried out. All of this is backed up with invoices and receipts in its file.
For those of you that do not know the S was powered by an upgraded 3.2-liter engine which produced 252 horsepower and a top speed of 162 mph. The top engine installed on the base Boxster had a displacement of 2.7 with a maximum power of 220 horsepower and a top speed of 155 mph. Although in everyday life a difference in top speed of 7mph is really an irrelevance, the 3.2 produces much more torque and when coupled to the 5 speed “Tip-tronic” gearbox makes it a stunning all round car, happy to bumble along in town or to be thrown around on an Alpine pass.
For so long these wonderful cars were shunned by the “Porsche” fraternity but now people realise just how good they are, with non-Porsche people taking advantage of what was probably one of the best bargains on the market. Now a massive upswing in values is taking place with nice examples such as this, becoming harder and harder to find in this price range.
