Lot 129 – Volkswagen T25 Camper “Hi- Top” Brand New Interior 1983
Estimated Value: £8,000 – £10,000
Far from the normal offering, this delightful, excellent condition and very popular VW Camper has just had a full “one off” custom made refit on its interior and as such the interior is brand new and un-used. Have a close look at the quality of the job, it’s very nice. From its water resistant wood laminate flooring with stainless steel step, its new sink with electric tap, twin gas hobs, fridge, “rock and roll” double bed, under seat storage, ceiling lights, colour matched two-tone curtains, bed, door cards and built in storage cupboards. Through to the under floor water storage tank, 240v/12v consumer panel (pull up and plug in) and extra leisure battery. This really is a one off vehicle. It does not stop on the inside. As you can see it has the sought after high top with sliding side door. There are new door seals and the exterior paint work looks almost new as well. Then you have the alloy rear cycle rack and there is even a fold away barbeque grill!
The refit continues on the mechanicals as well with new brakes and suspension bushes throughout and its extensive history going back 17 years shows it had a full engine service 1000 miles ago. Now on the road this camper drives excellently. Al that suspension work translates into a Van that does not feel like an accident waiting to happen, but holds the road well. Coupled to a very good 2000cc Petrol engine, that unlike its diesel counterparts, feels more than adequate when fully loaded or being asked to pull away up hill, is a very rare to find 5 Speed manual gearbox. This gives it a much better spacing to the gears than the normal 4 speed unit. Making for a much more relaxed journey when traveling at motorway speeds, well 70mph as most of the time you’re lucky to see 25mph on the M25!
There is currently an MOT until August this year but the vendor will be placing a new one on the van before the auction, just to give the new owner further peace of mind.
Camper vans as nice as this rarely come to market, let alone a van with a brand new interior etc etc etc. Normally they stay within club or the owner’s social circles and often sell for very high money. With the low reserve the vendor has placed “Bill” as the name plate on the dash says, will be selling to a lucky new owner that will enjoy him for many years we are sure.
